We are getting more orders to provide frames for exhibitions. The photos show one order for a number of inlay frames part way through the making process. These are the small frames, we have a similar quantity of larger frames to begin making tomorrow.
I’ve been working on some hand finished moulding this afternoon. The moulding started off as plain wood, but after several coats of various paints and finishing techniques we end up with these aged gold lengths of frame moulding. Normally this kind of finish is applied to a complete frame but in this instance the customer wanted to assemble the frames themselves so will be receiving cut and routed lengths ready to join.
This is a small black and gold frame I made for a local artist. It’s a simple black painted frame with a distressed gold sight edge. The black is buffed to polish and provide a tough finish reminiscent of Victorian ebonized frames. The sight edge has an under coat of red bole and the gold has been distressed to give an aged look. These frames are available via our website.
We have added an information sheet about inlay frames to our website. You can download it here
